For there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done

Numbers 23:23 (NKJV)

This verse is part of a prophecy made by the non-Israelite prophet Balaam, who was commissioned to curse the Israelites by Balak, the king of Moab. But Balaam was compelled by God to bless them rather than curse them.

Balaam asserts that the people of Jacob cannot be harmed by magic or divination. He adds that any attempts to curse Israel will be ineffective since they are under God’s blessing and protection. Balaam acknowledges and extols the wonderful deeds of God in guarding and favoring His people.

Reflection on No Curse, Only Favor

As Christians, we should recognize that we are beneficiaries of God’s favor in a world full of negativity. Balaam in Numbers 23:23 encouraged the people of Jacob to seek the wonders of God and not be affected by sorcery or divination.

Christians benefit from heavenly favor, which is love, protection, and provision from God. These blessings cannot be overcome by darkness or the forces of evil who operate to give us suffering. We are blessed.

God’s favor is an unwavering truth that helps us overcome adversity and challenges, providing us with unshakeable faith. Trusting in God’s faithfulness and supply despite uncertainty is key to accepting His favor and transforming curses into blessings.

We must remind ourselves that we walk in God’s favor and that His goodness and grace are on us in any circumstance.
