Revelation 5:12 (NKJV)
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
The anchor verse of Revelation 5:12 portrays a scenario in heaven where angels and other creatures are worshiping the Lamb for being deserving of authority, wealth, knowledge, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. This is an affirmation of the Lamb’s magnificence and deservingness of all glory and adoration.
Ultimately, the verse highlights the importance of Jesus Christ as the God-sacrificing Lamb, who is deserving of all glory and praise.
Themes in Revelation 5:12
- Worthy: The worthiness of the Lamb, Jesus Christ, who died for the redemption of humanity, is emphasized. The only person who is worthy of all honor and adulation is Him.

Background to Revelation 5:12
A vision of John of the throne room of God in heaven is described in Revelation 5:12. John sees a scroll with seven seals in this vision, which stands for God’s plan for the end of the world. The Lamb of God, who is Jesus Christ, must first advance and receive the scroll from God’s right hand before anybody is deemed worthy to open it.
The Lamb, who is now seen as the only one deserving to open the scroll, is the subject of praise in Revelation 5:9–10. The text proclaims that the Lamb has made all people a kingdom of priests to serve God, having redeemed them from all tribes, languages, peoples, and nations.

How should the Christian live his life?
Because the Lamb gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins, the Believer should make an effort to live in a way that honors Him.
The Christian life should be marked by humility, service, and obedience to God. Jesus Christ’s teachings of love, compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness should be replicated by Christians. They must spread the gospel and strive for God’s kingdom to come on earth.
The Lamb is the ultimate authority and ruler of the universe, and the Believer should live with this awareness. They should put their faith in His omnipotence and look to him for direction in every area of their lives. Being aware that the Lamb has already triumphed over the world and that their ultimate recompense awaits them in paradise, the Believer should likewise be ready to endure persecution and afflictions for their faith.
Reflection on Worthy Is The Lamb
Revelation 5:12 affirms Jesus Christ’s deity and kingship, positioning Him as the creator of all things as well as the victor over sin and death.
Revelation 5:12 is a motivation to Christians to worship and serve Jesus with all our hearts, minds, and strength, reminding us of His greatness and majesty.
Simultaneously, it reminds us of our depravity and the need for salvation – only found in the Lamb who was crucified for our sins.
The title “Worthy Is The Lamb” captures the essence of the message, reminding us of Jesus Christ’s critical role in the Christian faith. It urges us to worship, acknowledge His atonement and victory, and proclaim the hope and joy that comes from surrendering to Christ’s authority.

My Father,
I come before you with a heart overflowing with thanks and adoration for your countless acts of kindness and generosity. I give you thanks for the gift of your son Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who died in atonement for my sins and provided a pathway for my reconciliation with You.
Lord, please assist me to think about the phrase “Worthy Is The Lamb” and what it means for my life as a Christian every day. I beg you to grant me a heart of adoration and love, as well as the desire to honor and magnify your Son in everything I do.
I hope that You speak to me through the Holy Spirit as I read and reflect on Your Word, revealing the truths and insights You have for me. Help me to embody these truths in my life, to experience Your love’s transformation, and to behave in a way that exalts Your name.
Lord, grant me the fortitude and bravery to tell others about the good news of Your redemption, to show compassion for and provide for those in need, and to live in the hope and assurance that comes from knowing that the Lamb has already triumphed over the world.
Lord, I thank You for Your love. I pray that during my daily devotions, I will get closer to You and my relationship with Your son Jesus.
